Sunset at Canyon Junction
I claim a big zero for originality on this shot. It's the most photographed spot in all of Zion National Park. Every night, you'll see an army of photographers, working to get a shot from this iconic spot. Yet, no matter how many times I visit Zion, i always find myself right there with them. On this particular night, I had actually hiked down in to the river to get this shot from a different angle, which probably made me none too popular with the photographers who's shot I was standing in. But, as I headed back to the car, this scene opened up....so I ran to the bridge and snapped it. The sky was amazing.....I did a poor job of locking my tripod down so it isn't as sharp as I would have liked, but it came out OK all the same.

Seal Rock Sunset
I read an article a few months back about photographing the Oregon Coast, and I was surprised when it recommended the winter months as the best time. The days can be gray and cold, with almost constant rain, but when the storms passes, the result can be amazing. This was one of those times.. Mid February...It had been raining and cold all day, and the evening forecast called for much of the same....but a little break in the clouds just above the horizon held some promise. The sun began to set, the light began to change....and just minutes after the sun completely disappeared, the sky exploded into these amazing colors. It was like watching a scene being painted by the hand of God Himself.....and I felt incredibly blessed to have been able to have seen it.

A few years back, I was lucky enough to spend a night in Copenhagen....a layover on the way back to Atlanta. Armed with Google maps, I walked around for 6 hours, jamming in as many touristy sites as I could....the Little Mermaid, Nyhavn, Tivoli Gardens, you name it But this one caught me by surprise, I asked a local and he told me "Oh, thats the castle". Of course, the castle. I mean, why wouldn't I expect to find a castle in the middle of a big city??.. So, I had make a detour and investigate a bit. Found out it was built in 1606 and was used as a royal residence unitl the early 1700s Unfortunately, it was closed for the night so I couldnt tour it...but the setting sun and the clouds made for a super cool backdrop.

Storm over the Palouse
An evening storm in the Palouse Region of Washington State. There were dozens of photographers and travelers busy snapping pictures of an amazing sunset in the valley below. When these clouds started to appear, one by one, they jumped in their cars and drove off. But a few of us stayed, weathered the storm....and got to see this amazing scene unfold. I always feel so blessed when I see something like this.....realizing that I am one of only a handful of people on the earth that got to witness it.

Seattle Night Music
I think this is one of the coolest views of any US city......all these highways wind through downtown Seattle and separate just outside of the main section of town. Most of the skyline shots you see of Seattle are from Kerry park, from where you get a great view of the Space Needle and Mount Ranier. This is from the opposite section of town so the iconic Space Needle is hidden behind these buildings. But I think the winding highways and Century Link park make for a pretty awesome view anyway...especially during a cloudy sunset right after a big storm.

St. Albans Church
St. Albans Anglican Church in Copenhagen…..I was actually trying to find that Little Mermaid statue when I came across this awesome church…..and the church ended up being way more interesting. The Little Mermaid is still kind of neat to see……its just off to the right of picture, surrounded by a huge group of Nikon-armed Japanese tourists. So, I gave up and came back here. There was something about the facade of this church, with the cool clouds and the setting sun that warranted a few pics. I tried to get inside but some determined Danish church-lady told me that she was busy and I should come back another day. I thought…..”Sure, I live 4500 miles from here…..I’ll just stop in next week”.

A New York Minute
Got to spend a few days with my daughters (well, 2 of them, but I’ll take what I can get) back in my hometown of Cranford, NJ. The weather never got above 30 degrees, so there wasn't a whole lot of exploring….but there were still awesome moments.... with some lifelong friends. Our conversations brought up a lot of “Do you remember when….” and “Whatever happened to……”. And, even though the weather messed up our plans for New York City, the view from NJ is still amazing.

The Wee Small Hours of the Morning
In the wee small hours of the morning……..
A view of New York City at first light of day….taken from Frank Sinatra’s hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey.
Everytime I visit NJ, I make this great plan. I set my alarm clock for about 5am with the idea of getting up early and driving to Hoboken (birthplace of Frank Sinatra) to watch the sunrise over NYC. Well, the first 2 steps (setting the alarm and going to bed) work great. I’m a champ at those. However, my plan always flops on the “get up early” part. Either it’s too cold, too early, too much traffic…. or (more than likely) I’m hungry and there are still some cannolis in my mothers refrigerator. But, on this one morning, I pushed past my urges for more sleep and food, and I did it. Woke up, dressed, got in the car, made the drive, grabbed a hot cup of coffee, and sat on a little bench to watch a new day break through the darkness. The sky went from black, to blue to yellow and red in just a few minutes...........And that was the perfect amount of time, because I was tired of wiping the mist off my camera lens…………and Carlo's bakery was about open…..and moms fridge was out of cannolis.5dm3ESBNYNYCSummerbigapplecanoncitycloudscolorempirestatebuildingholidayhudsonlightmorningnewyorkpinkredriverskyskylinesunrisetourismtravelvacationwateryellow

The Germany Pavilion in Epcot. - It never ceases to amaze me how well the Disney Imagineers do at creating the pavilions in World Showcase. I don't know what this building if actually used for, but it makes a great entrance to the Germany pavilion.

Right in the middle of Main Street, USA. - I was lucky enough to get to the Magic Kingdom just as the sun started to set. Within an hour, it would be pouring rain. But, at this moment, the weather was perfect and the sun bid the day goodbye by shining its light on Cinderellas castle.

The Cliffs of Gasadalur
The Cliffs of Gásadalur - This is probably the most photographed scene on the Faroe Islands, and it was our first stop after arriving. You have to climb down this really steep, wet stone staircase to get here. There is a handrail.....well......sort of......more like a metal pipe than somebody bolted into the cliffside. And then there is some weird looking ski lift thing, that we figured out was for moving sheep up and down. It's windy and cold as heck.....but what an amazing scene once you get there.

The Eiffel Tower at Night
I decided to venture out late one night from my hotel in Paris....no particular destination...just walking. About 20 minutes, a couple of Nutella crepes, and an espresso later, I ended up here. I know there is not shortage of Eiffel Tower photos in the world, but I could resist adding another. And it helped calm down my midnight sugar and caffeine high :-).

Sunset in the Valley of Fire
Just an hour off the Las Vegas strip is Valley of Fire State Park. If you are a Star Trek fan, the you may recognize that this is where Captain Kirk battles against Dr. Sauron in the movie Generations. If you aren't a Star trek fan, go there anyway. You will love it.

A New Morning
One of my favorite locations for morning photography is the Jupiter/Palm Beach area of Florida....along the Eastern coast. The sky always seems to have brilliant color, and the reflections in the Atlantic Ocean make the scene remarkable. This was shot right next to the Juno Beach Pier, a very popular location for morning fishermen.

Autumn in Central Park
The beauty of Central Park never ceases to amaze me. On this particular day, the sky was bright blue and the trees were alive with bright fall colors. However, in the end, I think black and white suits NYC the best. Its completely timeless.

One of the most photographed locations in the Western United States. If you have a camera....and are anywhere near Canyonlands National Park at sunrise....be sure to hit this place up. As the sun breaks over the horizon, the underside of the arch just explodes with color. It is amazing!!
